- SAFE Releases Data on China's Foreign Exchange Reserves at the End of December 2023
According to the statistics by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), by the end of December 2023, China’s foreign exchange reserves registered USD 3238 billion, up by USD 66.2 billion or 2.1%, from the end of November.
In December 2023, the US dollar index fell, and global financial asset prices witnessed a widespread increase, driven by factors including monetary policies and expectations in major economies. The combined effect of currency translation and changes in asset prices and other factors led to an increase in foreign exchange reserves. China's economy exhibits a continuous recovery, marked by solid progress in high-quality development, which will provide support for the general stability of China’s foreign exchange reserves.
